Hello,
As everyone is aware, the coronavirus is now present in Colorado with confirmed cases and Governor Polis has declared a state of emergency to attempt to get ahead of the spread of this virus. At the core of his pronouncement is to make sure that workers across many industries, including health care, are able to balance their personal interest in earning a living with the shared interest for client and caregiver of remaining healthy. This is particularly critical for the clients whom PASCO serves, many living with compromised immune systems.
PASCO, throughout our 28-year history, has provided sick and vacation leave as benefits for our caregivers. This is important, as there are many situations that can disrupt your ability to provide care, whether due to your own illness or that of the client(s) you serve. It is critical for our clients that all of our caregivers use these benefits of sick and vacation hours if you feel ill or exhibit symptoms consistent with flu or coronavirus. In this type of situation, communication is very important.
- If you are a live-in caregiver, please call your nurse or the office at 303-233-3122. If you require additional supports, we will collaborate to build a plan to provide supplemental caregiver(s).
- If you are in a situation where your sick & vacation benefit won’t provide coverage for missed time, please contact the PASCO HR team at 303-233-3122 and we will work with you to help support you through your illness.
- If you are new and do not have accrued time off, please contact the HR team at 303-233-3122 and we will coordinate a plan to provide supports through your illness.
- Hand-washing and disinfecting should be used proactively; Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should be conserved to help support clients who have already fallen ill with flu or related symptoms. Please contact PASCO staffing (Hope, Sherri, and Ariana) if your particular client situation requires supplies of PPE, such as masks or gloves.
It is important to remember during a time like this that our best approach is to act calmly, act rationally, and communicate effectively so that client care is maintained with increased illness affecting our community. Thank you in advance for the care and attention that you place on your client’s health.
